The recipe
Ingredients:
½ cup of uncooked rice (brown, white long grain, white short grain, or jasmine);
2 cups of water.
How to prepare it: in order to make rice water first rinse the rice with a cup of water to remove any dirt and impurities, then place ½ cup of uncooked rice in a bowl, covering it with water. Let it soak for 15-30 minutes. Swirl it around and then lightly knead it until the water turns cloudy. In this way all the minerals and vitamins will seep into the water, creating a nourishing rinse for your hair. Strain the rice water into a clean container or bowl and then store it into an air-tight container in the fridge for up to a week.
How to use it: this rice water will add shine to your hair and will keep it strong and healthy. If you want some extra nourishment, add couple of drops of essential oils like rosemary, lavender or geranium. So, first shampoo your hair and then rinse it with the rice water, gently massaging the scalp and hair. After that rinse thoroughly with plain water. You can use it 1-2 times weekly as a last rinse.
Rice water as hair conditioner: add a few drops of rosemary, lavender, or geranium essential oil to the rice water and apply to the tresses. Leave it like that for 10 minutes and then wash off with cold water
